As a coach, you may be wondering about your next steps in professional development. Understanding the many coaching credentials and acronyms might seem overwhelming when deciding which pathway to choose. We are here to help you understand the world of coaching credentials and guide you towards your goals with clarity and confidence.

The first step to becoming a certified coach is understanding the different levels of available credentials. The most common coaching credentials and pathways:

ACC (Associate Certified Coach):

  • Entry-level credential offered by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

  • Requirements include 60+ hours of coaching education, 100+ hours of coaching experience, and 10 hours of mentor coaching.

  • IECL offers an ACC/Level 1 Pathway, providing all the education and mentor coaching required while candidates gain coaching experience.

PCC (Professional Certified Coach):

  • Intermediate credential by the ICF.

  • 125+ hours of coaching education, 500+ hours of coaching experience, and additional mentor coaching hours.

  • IECL's PCC/Level 2 Pathway offers comprehensive support in meeting these requirements as you build your hours.

MCC (Master Certified Coach):

  • The pinnacle of coaching credentials offered by the ICF.

  • Requires extensive training (200+ hours) and substantial coaching experience (2,500+ hours).

  • IECL provides unique "portfolio" pathways to support candidates achieving this prestigious credential.

PIECL (Professional IECL Organisational Coach):

  • IECL's esteemed credential for organisational coaching.

  • It is achieved by completing IECL's Level 1 and 2 Certifications and Level 1 and 2 Accreditations.

  • PIECL signifies advanced organisational coaching competency, setting a professional excellence benchmark.

As you chart your course towards coaching excellence, aligning your credentialing journey with your professional aspirations is crucial.
