Mental Health First Aid is the help given to someone who is either developing a mental illness or is experiencing a mental health crisis. Like physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid is given until the person can either receive appropriate professional help or until the crisis resolves.

Duration: Two days

Certification: Participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Mental Health First Aid for Executive Coaches

The Mental Health First Aid Course teaches you how to recognise the signs and symptoms of different mental illnesses and mental health crises. It also teaches you how to offer initial help and how to guide a person toward appropriate treatments and other supportive help. The Mental Health First Aid Course does not encourage or teach people to provide a diagnosis or to give therapy.

 

Mental illnesses covered in the course include depression; anxiety; psychosis and substance misuse.

 

Mental health crises covered include how to help people with suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non-suicidal self-injury, panic attacks, traumatic events, severe psychotic states, acute effects from alcohol or other drug misuse and aggressive behaviours.

 

This particular mental health first aid course will be tailored to meet the needs and experiences of executive coaches. Participants will receive a copy of the recently released 4th Edition MHFA Manual, a wallet card and a certificate of completion. They will also be given the opportunity to gain a MHFA accreditation.

More than 28 days prior to the start day of the face to face workshop component of the course:

  • Cancellation and transfers permitted with no charge.

 

28 – 15 days prior to the start date of the face to face workshop component of the course:

  • Cancellations – a cancellation charge of 40% of the Total Course Fee applies.
  • Transfers – a transfer fee of 25% of the Total Course Fee applies to all transfer requests.

 

14 days or less prior to the start date of the face to face workshop component of the course:

  • Cancellation – no refund
  • Transfers – not permitted

 

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:

  • to cancel your service contract with us; and
  • to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value

 

You are also entitled to  be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

 

In addition to the above, if you are not satisfied after the first day of the workshop a full refund is available.

Experienced Facilitator

Glenn Dennett is an executive coach and facilitator who specialises in working with in the professional services sector.

Glenn is a graduate of the University of Sydney – M.App.Sc. (Coach Psych) degree and is an accredited Mental Health First Aid trainer.

He regularly runs workshops on how to manage mental health issues in the workplace and how to promote the mental health of people working in high performance work environments.

He also co-facilitates peer support groups for people living with drug, alcohol and other addictions.
